Meet a stranger,
safely.
circld doesn't verify identity (see Trust & verification); we review listings, not the people behind them. These habits keep meet-ups smooth for both sides.
Get specific in chat.
Dates & return time
Exact day and time you're returning the item. “Sometime Sunday” is not specific enough.
Daily rate & total cost
Multiply it out in chat. “3 days × $20 = $60” written down avoids any “I thought you said” conversations.
Deposit (if any)
Amount, method, and when it's returned. circld doesn't hold deposits. They're between you two.
Damage policy
What happens if it comes back broken, dirty, or late. Most hosts ask for cost-of-repair up to a stated cap.
Meet somewhere sensible.
Daylight and a public spot
Coffee shops, busy parking lots, libraries, community-centre parking are all fine. Most cities also have designated “safe-exchange zones” at police stations.
Bring someone
Especially for high-value items or first-time meets. No host should object. If they do, that's information.
Document the item together
Take a few photos at pickup, especially of any existing wear, scratches, or wear marks. Share them in the chat so there's a timestamp.
Test it before you leave
Power on, check accessories, confirm it does what the listing says. If it's not what you expected you're free to walk. No obligation until you take it.
Wrap it up cleanly.
Document again
Photos at return mirror the photos at pickup. If anything changed, it shows in the side-by-side.
Settle the deposit on the spot
If a deposit was taken, return it at return, or agree in chat that it'll be e-transferred within a stated window.
Leave a review
Both sides leave reviews in the app. They build trust for the next person. Honest reviews help everyone, including the next renter or host who considers this person.
Keep the chat
Don't delete the conversation when you're done. If something comes up later (deposit dispute, missing accessory), the message history is the record.
Trust your instincts.
If something feels off (a host won't meet in public, the item isn't as described, someone is pressuring you to pay outside the chat), walk away. Then email support@circld.com. If you feel unsafe in the moment, leave and call local authorities. That comes before any rental.
