Welcome to circld, a rental marketplace where users can list items for rent and book rentals from others, helping you do more with your time and money. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your personal information.

By using circld, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use our services.

• App usage and diagnostic information, such as which screens you visit and error reports, as described in section 3

We use your information to help you do more with your time by:

• Enabling you to create and manage item listings
• Facilitating rental bookings and transactions
• Enabling communication between renters and item owners
• Processing booking requests and managing rental agreements
• Sending essential notifications about bookings, messages, and account activity
• Providing customer support when you need it
• Improving app functionality and user experience
• Ensuring platform safety and preventing fraudulent activity

With your permission, the app uses your device location to show you relevant local listings and improve search results, saving you time finding what you need nearby. We request location only while you are actively using the app, and we use an approximate level of accuracy rather than your precise position. When you create a listing, we save it to the centre of its postal code area, not to your exact location, so the map preview never reveals where you are. If you prefer not to share location, you can still search by typing a city name.

What other users can see

Service providers we use

We rely on a small number of trusted third-party providers to operate the app and website — for example to host our infrastructure, deliver search results, send transactional emails, deliver push notifications when you opt in, and measure aggregate usage of our website so we can improve it. When you search by city, the text you type in the city field is shared with a mapping provider to suggest matching cities and resolve them to map coordinates, and listing pages use an embedded map to display item locations. Our website analytics are used to understand overall traffic and product usage, not to serve ads or to follow you across other sites, and they only run if you allow them in the cookie card shown on your first visit. Each provider is bound by their own privacy and data-processing terms and only receives the information needed to deliver their service.

In the mobile app, we also collect information about how the app is used, such as which screens are visited, which features are used, and error reports, so we can understand how the product performs, diagnose problems, and fix bugs. This usage information is linked to your account so we can investigate issues that affect you. It does not include the content of your photos or your messages, and we do not record your screen. It is used only to improve circld, and it is never used for advertising or shared with ad networks.

You can control your visibility by managing your profile settings and using our blocking feature.

You have the right to:

• Object to or ask us to restrict certain uses of your information
• Withdraw your consent where we rely on consent to use your information
• Block other users to prevent interaction
• Control what information you share in your profile
• Manage your listing visibility
• Opt out of non-essential communications
• Lodge a complaint with your local privacy regulator or supervisory authority

Your data is:

• Stored securely on industry-leading cloud infrastructure
• Protected by industry-standard security measures
• Accessible only to authenticated users and authorized personnel
• Encrypted during transmission and storage
• Backed up regularly to prevent data loss

How long we keep your information

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile and profile photo and we delete or anonymize the personal information linked to it, apart from the limited cases below where a longer period is required by law or where another person's own record depends on it.

• Booking and rental transaction records are kept for up to 7 years, so we can meet tax, accounting, and legal record keeping obligations.
• Photos belonging to a deleted listing stop being served right away and are permanently removed within 90 days.
• Messages, reviews, and booking history you shared with another user form part of that person's own record of their activity. When you delete your account, your name and photo are removed from those records, and the underlying content is kept so the other person retains an accurate history of their rentals.

You can delete your account at any time through the app settings.

circld is built to work with as little browser and device storage as possible. We use only what is essential to make the product work — for example, to keep you signed in between visits and to remember small UI preferences (like a banner you've dismissed). On the website, anonymous usage statistics are optional: they run only if you allow them in the cookie card on your first visit, with "Okay", "Allow all", or the Analytics toggle. Choosing "Essentials only" keeps them off.

What we don't do

• We don't use third-party advertising or retargeting cookies.
• We don't sell access to your data to ad networks.
• We don't set behavioural-tracking cookies that follow you to other sites.

You can clear your browser's storage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out and reset any dismissed banners, but won't affect data we hold about your account.

circld is intended for users aged 18 and older, and you must confirm your date of birth when you create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

circld is operated from Canada, and your information is stored and processed on cloud infrastructure located in the United States. If you use circld from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in Canada and the United States, which may have different privacy laws than your country of residence.

Wherever your information is transferred, we take steps to keep it protected by appropriate safeguards, and any provider that handles it on our behalf is bound by contractual data protection obligations and may only use it to deliver their service to us. For transfers of personal information outside Quebec, we assess the privacy implications of the transfer before it takes place, as required by applicable law.

circld is the controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. If you have a privacy question, want to exercise your rights, or would like our postal address, you can reach our privacy contact using the details in the Contact section below.

Depending on where you live, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases to use your information: to provide the agreement that lets you use circld and make or receive bookings; our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving a safe marketplace; your consent, for example for optional location access, push notifications, or website analytics, which you can withdraw at any time; and compliance with our legal obligations, such as tax and accounting record keeping.

If you are in a region with a privacy regulator or supervisory authority, you have the right to lodge a complaint with them. In Canada this includes the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by:

• Sending an email to your registered email address
• Posting a notice in the app
• Updating the “Last Updated” date

Continued use of the app after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
